Marysville Marathon Festival

You are probably well aware that the town of Marysville was nearly destroyed in the catastrophic bushfires that swept across Victoria on Black Saturday, 7 February, 2009. Many lives and most homes and businesses were lost. As part of our town's recovery, the local GP Dr. Lachlan Fraser and a small but dedicated committee are holding the first Marysville Marathon Festival on Sunday November 8th. Participants can choose to run an event covering 42, 21, 10 or 3 kilometres, with walkers encouraged to cover one of the two shorter distances.

Local residents are busy attempting to rebuild their lives and businesses, so they are finding it hard to also get involved in reconstructing the community. This is where all of us can help, by making events such as the Marysville Marathon Festival a great success. Its main purpose is to lift community spirit, allowing residents and supporters, either as runners or walkers, to once again enjoy being in Marysville, whilst also raising funds for local emergency services and a wildlife refuge. Plus we will all enjoy participating in a community event that promotes health and fitness, in an environment which is showing signs of recovering its former attractiveness.

More than 1200 people have so far registered and we expect that many more will join them on the day.

More information about the Marysville Marathon Festival can be found at www.marysvillemarathon.com.au where you can also register to participate.

Thank you in anticipation, Dr. Lachlan Fraser, Race Director

Which new club was the most successful in the MSJFL in 2009?
Under 9's & 10's Results/Ladders

The weekly match results for Under 9's and 10's are recorded in the SportingPulse system but are not displayed on this website nor are they released.  The reason for this is the MSJFL see these two age groups primarily focused on development of juniors in the game of AFL, rather than winning or losing, and therefore do not publish the results or ladders.

Mercy Rule - Under 11's to 13's

In Under 11's to 13's the mercy rule applies to teams that win by more than 60 points. The adjustment is made by the MSJFL in reducing the total score of the winning team to be no more than 60 points above the losing teams score.
