AFL Victoria Seeking Youth Girls Teams For 2010

AFL Victoria is now seeking expressions of interest for new clubs to join the ever growing Youth Girls competition in 2010.

The Youth Girls competition is an all female community based football competition for girls aged 13-18. Teams come from community based football clubs and participate in a weekly competition in their local region.

In 2009 there were 686 girls playing in 32 teams in six competitions across Melbourne, Bendigo and Geelong. A complete representative pathway exists also with Victorian and Interstate Championships played each year.

AFL Victoria is very interested in establishing competitions in new regions and in expanding our current competitions to include more teams.

Attached is the Club Information Guide to give clubs an understanding of what is required to establish their own team. Included in the booklet is an Expression of Interest form.

Which new club was the most successful in the MSJFL in 2009?
Under 9's & 10's Results/Ladders

The weekly match results for Under 9's and 10's are recorded in the SportingPulse system but are not displayed on this website nor are they released.  The reason for this is the MSJFL see these two age groups primarily focused on development of juniors in the game of AFL, rather than winning or losing, and therefore do not publish the results or ladders.

Mercy Rule - Under 11's to 13's

In Under 11's to 13's the mercy rule applies to teams that win by more than 60 points. The adjustment is made by the MSJFL in reducing the total score of the winning team to be no more than 60 points above the losing teams score.
