Rollerblaze Finishes 6th at The Classics

Rollerblaze 9ers played 9 long, hard games at the Classics this year resulting in 3 wins, 1 draw and 5 losses. Saturday was their day with wins against Suncoast Spinners and Toowoomba and a draw with Mackay but losses to Qld Juniors and Rockhampton. Monday in the playoffs saw the 9ers play Qld Juniors for a second time in a verymore

Summer 2013 Season Trophy Night

Saturday June 1 Rollerblaze celebrated the end of the summer season with a great night at Marina Quays Tavern, arranged by Ben Noonan, with a beautiful array of trophies sponsored by Wicked Wheelchairs. Five of our volunteers were acknowledged for their contribution to the season - Jane Bailey, De Arne Brennan, John Stubbs, Nasri Bale and Bruce Wilson all received a round of applause for theirmore

Eagles and Wicked Win Grand Finals

The B Grade grand final between Eagles & Blaze was a close game at half time with Blaze in front by 1 point (8-7) but in the second half the Eagles, led by Ben Noonan, managed to take the lead to win 19-15. The A Grade grand final saw Wicked outscore Blaze in the first half 22-6. Dion Reweti and Dion Sanderson continued the dominance in the second half to win 38-23. Lots of photos in the gallerymore

King's Christian College Support Rollerblaze

The staff and students of King's Christian College recently held a bbq to support Rollerblaze - raising an amazing $500. The fund raising event was organised by Ben Grice a student at King's and one of our players. The College Principal, Mr Rees Davis, says on the school website "who you are speaks louder than what you say" and the students and staff have indeed brought those words to life bymore

Jar of Jelly Beans Provides New Equipment

One of our newer players recently embarked on his own fund raising effort to support our programme. Ben Grice ran a competition to guess the number of jelly beans in a jar - resulting in Rollerblaze being able to purchase 10 new basketballs. Ben, a student at King's College and a player with a promising future in our sport, is to be congratulated on his initiative and commitment. Thanks Ben.more

Rotary Club of Mudgeeraba Supports Rollerblaze

The Rotary Club of Mudgeeraba - via their Milsy Foundation, recently made a generous donation to Rollerblaze after hearing players Ed Milner and Ben Noonan speak about their basketball experiences. The Rotary club meets for dinner every second Tuesday at the Merrimac Tavern and welcomes visitors. 2013 National League Games in Brisbane

Rounds 2, 4 and 5 of the National League will be hosted at the Brisbane Basketball Stadium, Dixon Street, Auchenflower. Maurice Blackburn Corporate Challenge

Staff from several offices of Maurice Blackburn played wheelchair basketball for their end of year staff function today at the inaugural Maurice Blackburn Corporate Challenge. Together with guest coach Liz Fiveash and Paralymian Adrian King OAM, over 45 people created a blaze of colour at our home courts - check out the photographs in the gallery.
